RE: May 28th, 1977 "appointment tape."
The Governing Body Commission [GBC] of the International Society
for Krishna Consciousness
[ISKCON] has, since December 1977, claimed that eleven leaders
had been "appointed as gurus"
on May 28th, 1977, and that this was confirmed on an audio tape
[commonly referred to as the "appointment tape"].
However, the "National Audio Video Forensic Laboratory" in Los Angeles:

says:
"In conclusion, the recording exhibits strong signs
suggestive of falsification." This lab does work for big law
firms and he agrees:
This tape has been edited and it would never be accepted as
evidence in a court of law. The GBC may have the original, we are
told, but why was an edited tape forwarded and not the
original--in the first place? Why are there many missing tapes
from this period of time also? Why was the poison tape hidden,
and a bogus appointment tape forwarded?
Why are there tapes talking about putting in sewer pipes on a
land project, they are preserved, but what the GBC alleges is the
instruction how to run ISKCON for the next ten thousand years, is
an unacceptable "edited" tape?
Who edited this tape?
Why are tapes missing?
We shall be discussing this more, but just wanted you to know,
the authority for leaders to become gurus in ISKCON is based on a
falsified piece of evidence. In sum, it's a lie.
Why do they say that liars--are gurus?
